YP SPOTLIGHT

Lindahl Wiegand

Employer
Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center (SJRMC)

Job Title
Editorial Specialist

Hometown
Lakeville, Indiana

Hobbies/Interests
Lindahl loves to golf, play sand volleyball, go boating, cheer on her alma mater Hoosiers, take photos and spend time with family and friends. She is also a proud member of the YPN Newsletter Team!

Something most people don’t know about Lindahl
She used to be one of two news reporters for the Pilot News in Plymouth. There she had the opportunity to work closely with and interview some amazing people – from police detectives and the fire chief to farmers and local citizens.

Career Highlight
“While working for the newspaper, I wrote a series on meth addiction that received a Hoosier State Press Story of the Year Award. In addition, I sat on a community board that organized town hall meetings in an effort to combat the serious drug problem in our surrounding counties – our turnout and the impact was an amazing experience. Joining the Marketing Department at SJRMC was also a very exciting transition for me. I love my job!”

Advice to Fellow YPs

“I don’t give advice – I take it! You learn so much from observing the actions of those around you, whether they are your mentors or co-workers. Think of who you respect, and why you respect them, and emulate them as you strive to improve professionally and personally.”

YOUR MICHIANA
St. Joseph County Parks

This summer, get outside and enjoy all of the outdoor activities offered by the St. Joseph County Parks. Nature hikes, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, disc golf, performing arts and nature classes are just a few of the things you can experience.

There are six locations for natural fun around the county: St. Patrick's County Park and Chamberlain Lake in South Bend, Bendix Woods County Park and Spicer Lake Nature Preserve in New Carlisle, Ferrettie/Baugo Creek County Park in Osceola and Place Trail Marsh in Walkerton.

Find more information on the St. Joseph County Parks Web site at www.sjcparks.org, including what is offered at each location and a calendar of events.

Do you have ideas for other things you’d like to see at your county park? St. Joseph County Parks is currently in the process of updating their five-year strategic Master Plan. Your input will help them make important decisions on future development and spending priorities. Respondents are guaranteed complete anonymity. With a few minutes of your time, you can help determine the future for our parks. Click to take the online survey.

Tell us about YOUR Michiana. Send in a testimonial of what you enjoy doing in Michiana. E-mail Sarah Ambler at SEAmbler@indianatech.edu.

YPN REACHING OUT

The YPN Outreach Team is interested in meeting you! If you have at least 10 young professionals at your organization that could benefit from YPN's resources, the Outreach Team would be happy to schedule a breakfast, brunch, or late afternoon informational session at your place of business.

These sessions are designed to provide a comfortable atmosphere as our leaders give an introduction about YPN, review the resources available and tell your employees or fellow co-workers how they can get more involved. Typically a session consists of a formal or informal presentation describing YPN and time to enjoy food and networking. The format can be adjusted to fit the culture and needs of your organization.

Please contact Sarah Hoshaw (574.247.5491, hoshaws@sjrmc.com) or Maggie Wurst (574.234.8398, mwurst@pressganey.com) for more details and to schedule a session!

READING CORNER

The South Bend Tribune
discover what's in it for you!

It’s not on the New York Times bestseller list – it’s not even a book – but you could be missing out on reading one of the most important resources available to you daily.

The South Bend Tribune is Michiana's major source for local and national news and has been in circulation since 1872. Its founders, Alfred Miller and Elmer Crockett, still have family members working for the business.

Some interesting facts about the Tribune you may not know:

  • It's the largest daily newspaper in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, serving 10 counties.

  • Its commitment to our local community is evident in its numerous local sponsorships.

  • The Tribune also prints weekly publications like the Tribune Business Weekly, Marketplace and Irish Sports Report

  • The Tribune also publishes monthly magazines INMichiana, Inside Granger and the quarterly Arts Everywhere magazine.

  • The Tribune is a major local employer with over 500 full and part-time employees and approximately 2,000 carriers, drivers and correspondents.

It's your locally owned morning paper with a commitment to Michiana. If you haven't picked it up, check it out soon!

Do you have a book or publication you would like to spotlight in the YPN E-Newsletter? Let us know! E-mail Lindahl Wiegand at wiegandl@sjrmc.com.
