Michiana area residents and visitors looking for a reason to head outdoors and experience the city of South Bend in a fast-paced, energy-infused way can do so by participating in the second annual Urban Adventure Games. Games take place on Saturday, July 31, 2010 and include a unique race which combines an athletic competition with a city-wide scavenger hunt, in addition to a cornhole tournament and after party. Registration for the 2010 Urban Adventure Games is now available online at www.urbanadventuregames.com and will be open through July 29. Starting and ending at Coveleski Stadium, the second annual Urban Adventure Games race will lead participants through the city of South Bend from checkpoint to checkpoint, testing them both physically and mentally. Participants will bike, run, paddle, climb and even fly throughout the city, while simultaneously finding hidden clues, answering trivia questions and completing tasks along the way.
Race participants can make the day as challenging or as fun as they want with four new levels of competition this year. Divisions include the Open Division, Elite Division for more extreme athletes, Junior Division for youth under the age of 18 and a Family Division.
This year’s Urban Adventure Games have also expanded to include a cornhole tournament and after party. These event additions allow even more opportunities for individuals and families to take part in the Urban Adventure Games without having to compete in the race.

LOCAL EDUCATION & YOU
Regardless of where you live in Michiana, local education both directly and indirectly impacts your quality of life.
Recognizing the importance of education in our community, The Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County is leading an initiative to identify the strongest candidates to serve on the South Bend School Corporation's Board of School Trustees. It is critical that we as young professionals become engaged in this effort and assist in getting the very best leaders elected in 2010. Please mark your calendars for these important upcoming events:

The ultimate goal is to educate prospective donors about the United Way and its funded agencies. Volunteers will also be trained on best practices when soliciting contributions and learn how they can assist companies in establishing and running an employee campaign. If you are interested in this opportunity, e-mail Greg Downes or call him at 574.245.3502. Additional information on the United Way of St. Joseph County is available online at www.uwsjc.org. |
