2009 Accomplishment
"Q4 of 2008 was terrible - my dad passed away and I was laid off within weeks of one another. I wanted to curl up in a ball, but instead I completed a personal SWOT
analysis and focused on changing what I could control versus being overwhelmed about what I couldn't control. A year later, I have a job I love and one that is really meaningful. My dad would have been proud."

The Boom of Outplacement Services
Many YPs may not have heard of “outplacement.” It’s a service provided to individuals, usually paid for by an employer, which coaches and assists an outgoing employee on job seeking skills to better their chances of a smooth and successful transition.
In
some cases, outplacement services will even
offer job training. When someone has been at a
company for years and then suddenly faces having
to find a new job, they don't have the skills
they need to move to a new company. Once a
person is given training in new technologies or
more efficient processes, they can embark on a
job search with confidence!
Elizabeth Muellner heads the outplacement services division of Career Transitions in Mishawaka. The economy has created a huge demand for her services in the past year. Elizabeth shared that the demands have been very challenging to meet, but she is grateful to have been a resource to so many in the community. If you would like to learn more, you can contact Elizabeth at 574.968.1860.
Thank You to our YPN Volunteers!
YPN
celebrated its many volunteers with an
appreciation lunch at Ruth's Chris Steak House
this afternoon. 2009 was a very successful year
- thanks to the dedication and efforts of all
our YP volunteers on work teams and the Advisory
Council. We couldn't have done it without you
and now look forward to all that 2010 has in
store. Thank You!
