YPN NEWS & NOTES

A Message From Outgoing YPN Advisory
      Council Chair Cathy Raven

As I say farewell as the chair of the YPN Advisory Council, I look back with much pride for the progress we have made to develop, connect and empower ourselves as young professionals in this great community over the past four years.

The call to action for each area YP is to continuously learn, build valuable professional relationships and find your "seat at the table" leading our area employers, charities and government.

As I look forward, I introduce Tania Bengtsson, Gibson Insurance Group, as the next chair of the Advisory Council. Like myself and so many others, Tania also contributed much to the birth and development of YPN to reach where we are at today. Ryan Fenstermaker of 1st Source Bank will serve as our next vice chair.

The future of YPN is in great hands with Tania and Ryan leading the way. Since I am not the big "40" yet, I still have a few years to benefit from all YPN has to offer. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2009!!

   And The Winner Is...

Thanks to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules to complete the YPN survey back in October. We've passed the results on to the YPN Work Teams who are now using your feedback to plan for 2009. The lucky winner of the $50 gas card was Murphy Tobin with One Communications. At last check, he still had money on it since gas prices have gone down so much!
Congrats Murphy!

READING CORNER

The Greatest Miracle in the World
By: Og Mandino

Og Mandino is a best-selling author who has written such books as The Greatest Salesman in the World, Mission: Success and The Greatest Success in the World. His books are shorter, simpler reads with powerful, inspiring points.

The Greatest Miracle in the World is a great read for anyone. Mandino states that you are more than a human being, “you are a human becoming,” and that the greatest miracle is you. He states that "the only certain means of success is to give more and better service than what is expected of you, no matter what your task may be.”

His four points include:

  • Count your blessings

  • Proclaim your rarity

  • Go the extra mile (give more than what is expected in life)

  • Use your power of choice wisely
