Mayor Encourages YP
Input at
Roundtable Discussion

The YPN Civic Engagement Team hosted its second quarterly roundtable discussion with
South Bend Mayor Steve Luecke last week.
The mayor was joined by Darryl Boykins, South Bend Chief of Police, and Jeff Gibney, Executive Director of Community & Economic Development.
Chief Boykins addressed safety concerns in the downtown area and Jeff Gibney touched on developments such as Eddy Street Commons, East Bank Village, Coveleski Neighborhood Plan and the Studebaker Corridor.
Mayor Luecke strongly supports the Civic Engagement Team’s initiative of actively engaging YPs in our community. He cited the following vacancies on boards and commissions as opportunities for YPs to get involved:
- Area Plan Commission
- Disability Rights Commission
- Historic Preservation Commission
- Housing Authority
- Human Rights Commission
- Board of Public Safety
- Area Board of Zoning Appeals
Many of these do include stipulations for serving. For more information or application procedures, contact the
South Bend City Clerk’s Office at 574.235.9221.
The next Mayoral Roundtable event will take place at the
Mishawaka City Hall with Mayor Jeff Rea on Thursday, August 28 at
8:30 a.m. Seating will be reserved for the first 15 young
professionals who RSVP to
events@sjchamber.org with their name and contact information.
